Super 8 footage and snapshots show Mark and Alex, two
towheaded identical twins, jumping rope and blowing out birthday candles. But there was much more going on behind the picture-perfect facade of their suburban home, as the Farley family struggled with coming out, sexual abuse, divorce, drug use, and a failed joint suicide attempt. Now 21, Mark and Alex work through their painful past and begin to look forward with their family members, whose powerful emotions run the gamut from anger and sadness to empathy and joy. Red Without Blue reexamines selfhood, sexual identity, and the resilient bonds of family.
