Roll Film!

We are proud of the 2008 edition of Reel Pride Michigan. Proud to present it, proud of its diversity, proud of the artists whose collective work we showcase.

As always, there's something for everyone: Boys Shorts, a Children's matinee, our Sunday Brunch, the fabulous Opening Night event, as well as several free films. The myriad stories that come out of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender experience will be represented on the big screen. The Festival is a great event as we get to watch and revel in the triumph, comedy, tragedy, myth --- and yes, the drama --- of LGBT lives told large and small.

Our selections range from straight-forward to complex, from shorts to feature films, from fiction to documentary. Part of the excitement of Reel Pride is the opportunity to see films as they are meant to be seen: on the big screen, in the dark. These days we settle for an iPod screen or the small TV to view film, which diminishes the encounter that the filmmaker has created for us. Presenting these works in the beautiful atmosphere of the historic Main Art Theatre makes the full-on film experience complete.
